An opportunity has arisen for a Matron to lead and support our teams of highly skilled, motivated, and enthusiastic nurses and healthcare assistants for Midway and Holywell wards at Langley House, Watford. As the Matron you will provide clinical, professional and line management to the nursing team demonstrating effective leadership and setting, monitoring, and maintaining standards.You must be a First Level Registered Nurse currently registered with NMC and educated to masters' degree or equivalent combination of post graduate diploma, short courses, and significant current experience in a senior nursing position in an inpatient rehabilitation unit or similar. You can expect to work closely with other staff groups within the inpatient units and directorate/divisional management teams and will have the opportunity to network with other Matrons/Lead Nurses across the Trust. Additionally, you will be supported to access relevant Trust and external learning programmes for their continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

The Matron will play a key role as part of the Management and Leadership of the West Hertfordshire Inpatient Rehabilitation Wards and support the Clinical Service Manager, Head of Service and Clinical Leads in delivering on and monitoring standards, ensuring the delivery of quality care.

The post-holder will be accountable for the provision of effective professional nursing leadership and pro-active resource management for the Wards. As an experienced practitioner, the post-holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement and professional development, ensuring that the delivery of care is regularly reviewed and that service developments are implemented when necessary.

The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Matron's Charter and hence will promote best practice in the prevention of infection, through ensuring a clean and safe environment and that clinical practices are in accordance with Trust policy, and best practice guidelines to minimise the risk of infection.

Responsibilities will also include contributing to the delivery of the Key Performance Indicators and all key strategic activities and developments. This will be supported by high quality communications with all groups of staff. The Ward Managers, who will report directly and be managed by the Matron.
