Job summary

CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services - CLCH NHS Trust provides a range of Community Services, and the Hertfordshire Division is recruiting!

Speciality Doctors play a valuable role, as part of a multi-disciplinary professional team, in providing high quality care for patients.

The role is suitable for those doctors who have full GMC registration with a licence to practice, without any restrictions, and who have experience of working in an inpatient ward environment.

Main duties of the job

The Speciality Doctor will work within a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals including nursing staff, pharmacists, allied health professionals and medical staff. You will undertake a range of essential routine tasks under the supervision and delegated authority of the relevant senior doctor in charge of the clinical area in which you are employed.

The role is suitable for those doctors who have full GMC registration with a licence to practice, without any restrictions, and who have experience of working in an inpatient ward environment.

Please note, this is not a training role, but doctors who work regularly on the units will have an opportunity for continuing professional development.

  • Carry out assigned duties and tasks under the direction of the doctor with whom they are scheduled to work, ensuring that the care is of a high standard.
  • Assist clinical staff to carry out duties in the delivery of patient care, maintaining confidentiality always.
  • Undertake clinical procedures such as taking and recording clinical observations and completing relevant documentation such as NEWS scoring; taking blood samples; blood cultures; venous blood gases; insert and flush peripheral cannula;
  • Accompany senior doctor on ward round, list jobs, scribe in patients' medical records, complete tasks and collate results and present to the directing doctor;
  • Perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, subject to training and experience;
