We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to lead on our exciting Volunteer to Career Pathway. This role will see you work with teams across Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust to craft volunteering roles which empower people in our communities looking for work to have experience and training to pursue paid employment. You will recruit volunteers locally, support them to succeed in their voluntary role, and encourage them to apply for paid employment as part of our commitment to nurture local talent. The successful candidate will be highly organised and skilled in stakeholder management as they join our expanding Volunteering Team. Main duties of the job
This is an exciting and fast-paced role which gives the opportunity to oversee the administrative functions of the Volunteer Service and project delivery across key NHS England funded projects including Volunteer to Career.
Volunteer to Career is a programme working towards increasing the number of volunteers in pursuing a career in healthcare and to help them gain employment after their volunteering experience. This role will lead on the design and delivery of this project, creating pathways that meet the specific workforce needs of our organisation and the community we serve.
The post holder will ensure an efficient, effective and responsive day-to-day operational service supporting the trust's Volunteering offer. The role will work across the trust's geography, taking action to ensure that a high level of customer service is delivered to meet the needs of our volunteers and staff.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the necessary processes are followed to provide the responsive and efficient recruitment and ongoing support of volunteers. This will include the day to day support of volunteer leads and work experience supervisors across the trust providing guidance with in a framework designed to safely support volunteers.

- Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the Trust, specifically around the Volunteer to Career programme
- Raise staff awareness of the role and the function of volunteers candidates
- Ensure there is appropriate and ongoing support and training for volunteers
- Promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns
- Pro-actively engage staff throughout the Trust with volunteering and equip them with the skills and knowledge to lead their own team of volunteers
- Identify, consult and collaborate with organisational stakeholders to ensure the project addresses workforce and other strategic drivers e.g. senior leadership team including the organisation board, HR director etc
- To design/scope/ plan VtC initiatives e.g. VtC pathways, improving environment & culture of volunteering
- Support with the Volunteer to Career project ensuring all objectives are met and stakeholders engaged to achieve the aims
- Support departments in the initial introduction of volunteers to their teams, to include staff awareness and management training
- Support the recruitment of volunteers to ensure governance is in place and candidates are appropriately matched and trained for a position
- Conduct appropriate background and reference checks where applicable for volunteers
- Assist local role managers with the ongoing support of volunteers to include induction, training, supervision and re-imbursement of expenses.
- Work collaboratively to monitor, support motivate and accredit volunteers and their work; celebrate volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards, organise celebration events and promote national campaigns such as National Volunteer Week
- Offer advice and information to enquierers through face-to-face, telephone and email contact
- Organise and assist at profile-raising events to attract new volunteers
- Keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and work experience and make any necessary modifications to accommodate changes
- Maintain and update our accurate volunteer database, carry out office systems and administrative procedures to achieve high standards of clerical services
- Manage and measure the delivery of the initiatives for 12 months.
