Job summary

We are looking for a positive, self-motivated Occupational Therapist with a passion for working with children and young people, 0-19years old or 0-25 with and EHCP in Merton and an interest in developing leadership skills.

Your role will be to provide highly specialist assessment, advice and treatment to children with a range of complex needs including coordination, developmental, physical functional, sensory and sensory motor either using 1:1 input, groups or integrated MDT groups. The role will include writing professional reports and advice for Education Health and Care plans and providing written activity programs for the treatment process. The role will include work within a local clinic, schools and supporting families across Merton.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate should ideally have experience of supporting, managing and developing members of staff. Your role will include delivering Inservice training and support to the team on specified clinical areas. Your role will include monitoring service performance and feeding back.

You will work closely with established multi-professional teams within Merton Integrated Complex Needs service and partner community services and with outside services to deliver occupational therapy advice and treatment meeting the needs of children and young people across Merton. You will have had experience of working with children in the community and/or educational settings or similar. You should be able to evidence excellent team working and communication skills and have a passion for personal development.

Your role will include working closely with MDT leads in service development, audit, and quality assurance, to ensure service provision if of a high standard

We are committed to professional development and evidence-based practice, offering regular in-service training and peer group / one to one supervision. Internal and external courses are supported. You should have experience of engaging in personal goal setting/ appraisal process and be willing to further develop clinical skills.

  • Current HCPC registration
  • Member of RCOT
  • Completed training in highly specialist clinical occupational therapy in Paediatrics (sensory integration 1/2/3, Bobath)
  • Evidence of ongoing post graduate training including Occupational therapy specific, condition specific, Clinical supervision and Child protection
  • Evidence of training and experience in recruitment and selection, appraisal, service development
