The Tri-borough Health Learning Disabilities Partnership is an established health team providing high quality services for people with learning disabilities. Within this team psychology plays a key role in the development and delivery of these services. We are seeking to recruit a qualified psychologist with a keen interest in working in adult learning disability services. You will be required to provide specialist psychological assessment and interventions along with advice and consultation on service users' psychological care to non- psychologist colleagues, staff and families who access our service.
You will undertake direct and indirect work with service users with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour, their carers, family members and other agencies and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The person appointed will have a Professional Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and will be registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
Main duties of the job
To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to adults with learning disabilities; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy, as well as offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research. To be involved in project work which can support service delivery and policy changes within the area served by the team/service.
To work as part of the Learning Disabilities Team in a variety of environments including clients' homes and day centres.
The work sometimes involves working with clients in emotionally charged or hostile situations. It frequently involves working under pressure of a full case load and having to make difficult priorities to meet competing needs.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CLINICAL
To undertake protocol based psychological assessments of service users. This may include applying psychological tests, including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service users care.
To facilitate the enhancement of each individual clients sense of wellbeing through attaining his or her optimum level of psychological functioning.
To practice using non-discriminatory interventions that respect the clients customs, values and spiritual beliefs at all times.
To teach, or give training in, psychological skills and in aspects of learning disabilities to other professionals working with clients with learning disabilities in the Learning Disability Team and in other private and voluntary organizations as agreed.
To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.
To take on the CPA care co-ordinator role as appropriate and be involved with outcome monitoring.
To carry out assessments Out of Borough when required, for those service users who may return to Westminster or require alternative placements
To assist in Continuing Healthcare Assessments as appropriate.
To balance the safeguarding of vulnerable adults with risk management and risk taking.
