Job summary

An exciting new 12 month maternity cover opportunity exists for a Band 7 Neuro-Occupational Therapist to join CLCH's established Community Neurorehabilitation Service. The multidisciplinary service covers Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster and is split into three locality teams.

This post will be located in the Hammersmith and Fulham Community Neuro Rehab team. The successful applicant will hold a clinical caseload of progressive and acquired neurological conditions including providing Early Supported Discharge for Stroke (ESD) as well as participating in the innovative partnership with Imperial NHS Trust; the level 2 Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Outreach Service (SNROS).

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work closely with the team lead and clinical leads to develop the service and maintain close working relationships with partners across health, social care and the third sector.

We require an organised and highly skilled OT who can demonstrate specialist neuro-rehabilitation skills in assessment and intervention at an advanced level. The ability to work well in a multidisciplinary rehab team, work co-operatively with partners and support junior staff in their development is essential to this role. T

  • To be an active member of CLCH inter-disciplinary Community Neurorehabilitation Service providing support and direction for the junior staff.
  • To assess and treat own caseload of clients who have a neurological diagnosis and may have complex presentation.
  • To work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
  • To build up and maintain key relationships with referring services to facilitate appropriate referrals, and an understanding of the roles within the neuro rehabilitation team
  • To take an active role in the neuro rehabilitation duty process to prioritize and ensure a timely response for assessments.
  • To be responsible for the supervision and line management of junior staff, including Band 6 occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants and occupational therapy students.
  • To support self and service development through active participation in continuing professional development (CPD) and by participating in any audit or research being undertaken by the service.
