Bank General Practitioner- Adams Ward-Finchley Memorial Hospital
We have opportunities for General Practitioners to join our Multi-disciplinary Team at Adams in Ward Finchley Community Hospital.
Adams ward is discharge to assess inpatient ward in Finchley Memorial Hospital, North Finchley. The Hospital is a beautiful new build surrounded by beautiful, landscaped gardens and open spaces.
The site has good access to local transport and easy parking facilities.
We have dedicated discharge to assess Multi-Disciplinary Teams consisting of Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Dietician, Speech therapist, Pharmacist, Activities Coordinators, Senior Care Assistants, Rehab Support Workers and Care assistants. The aim is to support patients to regain function, confidence, self-respect and much more.

Main duties of the job
- Clerk in new patients. On admission patients should be reviewed - full medical history should be taken, the patient should be examined, full notes entered to SystmOne and medications prescribed.
- Daily review of ward patients including attendance at ward sweep.
- Ongoing assessment of patients with minor problems that are manageable in the community.
- Ordering of investigations such as non-urgent bloods, x-rays, swabs, urine and other specimen microscopy/culture samples.
- Reviewing investigations (as above).
- Contributing to the MDT meeting once a week.
- Update families regarding medical aspects of patient care where necessary.
- Assessment of unwell patients escalated to doctor by nursing/therapy staff.
- Advising nursing/therapy staff regarding medical management of unwell patients.
- Liaising with the ward pharmacist about patients' medication queries.
- Common medication queries:
-The discharging hospital has withheld a particular medication and the doctor will need to review the need to restart/stop/continue.
-The discharging acute hospital has made a medication error that needs clarification with the relevant acute team.
- Referring patients to specialist care to be seen as an outpatient where necessary.
- Referring patients to a specialist team or emergency department for acute admission or review where necessary.
- Liaising with hospital teams/specialists regarding aspects of medical care.
- Timely preparation of medical discharge summaries and TTAs.
