Job summary

CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services - CLCH NHS Trust provides a range of Community Services, and the Hertfordshire Division is recruiting!

We are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to work as part of our Sexual Health team for 15hrs per week

This role offers a variety of duties & would suit a person who is passionate about patient care.

Place of work based at;Hatfield Centre, Queensway,Hatfield,Hertfordshire, AL10 0LT

Full training will be given to successful candidate onComputerised 'Lilie' package

Working Hours - Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 9.00 - 2.00

Main duties of the job

Provides a comprehensive and flexible secretarial service for consultant(s) and their team developing and maintaining effective internal office systems to facilitate the smooth running of the office.

Receive, open and prioritise consultant and team mail, identifying correspondence for which files and results should be obtained.

Manage consultant(s) diaries (electronic and paper) and organise and schedule meetings, appointments, meetings and interviews.

Organise and maintain consultant(s) personal filing syste

Establish and maintain an effective bring forward and filing system. Ensure that correspondence, case notes, files and other documentation are kept up-to-date and available as required by the Consultant(s) and/or management and that papers are prepared as required.

This includes audio typing, taking and transcribing minutes and producing clinical letters, as well as reports and inpatient summaries, ensuring that amendments are carried out in a timely manner.
  • To be responsible for coordination and management of the healthcare at home database, to act as a point of reference for patients, staff and outside agencies working within the HIV service.
  • The post holder will ensure procedures and working practices are in place to ensure a high level of service is provided to meet set targets and standards.

  • Good general standard of education at GCSE level (Grade 9 - 4) including English and Mathematics or equivalent Level 2 qualification(s)
  • Educated to diploma level (e.g. AMSPAR) or equivalent level combination of RSA Level 3, short courses and experience
  • ECDL/Microsoft or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Previous medical secretarial experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience of working with members of the public and handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience of working in an environment requiring an awareness of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  • Experience of office management
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining effective office systems including filing systems
  • Experience of using patient administration systems
  • Experience of mentoring, training or supervising others

Skills and Knowledge

  • Advanced word-processing and audio-typing skills
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of relevant medical terminology
