Job summary

The Birmingham School Health Support Service provides confidential advice, care and support to schools, children, young people and their parents.

The service aims to protect and promote the physical and emotional well-being of children to ensure that they get the most of their education and life beyond.

Main duties of the job

As a Student School Health Nurse with us you will be supported by Birmingham City University for the 50% academic study requirements of the course. The training is offered fulltime commencing 1st September 2025 withfixed holidaysset throughout the 52 week duration of the course. You must be a car driver with access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes

Throughout the course theory will be embedded into practice and as an NMC registrant you will be expected to further develop your communication, leadership and reflective skills. In practice you will be supported by dedicated and innovative School Nursing colleagues who are committed to supporting and developing Student School Health Nurses and then welcoming newly qualified School Nurse into teams.

  • First level nursing qualification
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Appropriate entry level criteria for the university education programme including a minimum of 240 academic credits of which at least 120 are at Level 5 (Diploma in Higher Education).
  • Portfolio evidence of continual professional and academic development.
  • For those wishing to undertake the Post Graduate SCPHN qualification at level 7 - applicants should hold an appropriate degree.
