Job summary

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is offering the opportunity for individuals to apply to join our 2-yr Step On Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA). This is a work-based course and a two year education program, working towards becoming a Registered Nurse with a BSc Hons Degree. The course combines work-based and academic learning between BCHC and Birmingham City University (BCU).

As an Apprentice you will be based, as a paid employee, within BCHC. Whilst you will be allocated to one specific area, you will experience working across both internal and external placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of local healthcare service and meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements.

Salary

All internal candidates working in a substantive position, will complete a secondment to maintain their current salary as well as terms and conditions. A secondment form (attached) is required to be agreed and completedPRIOR to interview.

For External candidates, we as a trust will honour the current banding of those working within the NHS. However, if you are applying as an external candidate working outside of the NHS you will be paid the national apprenticeships wage for the first 12 months which then aligns with the national minimum wage thereafter.

Main duties of the job

Ordinarily, attendance is expected two days per week at BCU and I day per week to attend clinical placement with the remaining 2 days per week at the work base.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be able to join the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register as a Registered Nurse.

During the education program you will develop skills, knowledge and behaviours that will allow you to work in today's dynamic and changing healthcare environment. You will be required to commit to self-directed study and successfully complete the education program within the contract period.

Ideally this is a full-time position (37.5hrs/week). However, to enable candidates to meet the requirements of the course you must be able to commit to a minimum of 30hrs.
