Job summary
Due to staff progression an opportunity has arisen to recruit a senior pharmacy technician in our patient focused pharmacy service.
This position is based at Moseley Hall Hospital. There are a variety of clinical specialisms covered including Elderly Care, Neurology and Stroke rehabilitation.
As a senior pharmacy technician you will support these clinical areas, joining our team of pharmacists and technicians providing medicines optimisation support and advice to our adult inpatient wards.
You will have the opportunity to experience a variety of areas and continue to challenge yourself to grow as a technician.
Our team endeavours to provide a comprehensive, efficient and safe pharmacy service to all clinical areas. This is to ensure we are consistently contributing to quality improvements in both prescribing and overall patient care.
Main duties of the job
The main duties will include providing a medicines management support to the wards, including ordering, supply, dispensing, checking and patient counselling.
All work must be to a high degree of accuracy and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
About us
Moseley Hall Hospital is a small non-acute hospital offering general medical and sub-acute care with the majority of our admissions being transfers from the local acute and specialist NHS trusts.
A core part of our role is rehabilitation thus enabling patients to be discharged home or transferred on an appropriate care setting.
We have specialist wards for stroke and neuro rehabilitation, in addition to three elderly care wards.
We are a small, friendly forward thinking team that is currently expanding and developing our pharmacy service. Future projects include the introduction of EPMA of across the Trust.
Patient experience and safety is at the centre of everything we do. Support, mentoring and further training will be provided to the successful candidates, to ensure that you fulfil your potential in this challenging role.
You will be actively encouraged to contribute to service development and quality improvement. This role will provide the opportunity to develop both clinical and leadership skills.

- BTEC National Certificate or NVQ level III in Pharmaceutical Sciences or other recognised equivalent
- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council

- To have successfully completed the Accredited Checking Technician course
- To have successfully completed the NVQ A1 assessor portfolio and be eligible to assess candidates undertaking both NVQ Level II and NVQ Level III in Pharmacy Services
