Job summary

The West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre offers a wide range of integrated services for children and adults with neurological and amputee conditions across the whole West Midlands. Services include: Specialist Orthotics, Amputee Rehabilitation, Access to Communication/Environmental technologies, Posture & Mobility, Counselling /Psychology and Neurological Rehabilitation services. The latter are Consultant led and include Spasticity, Intrathecal Baclofen, Multiple Sclerosis, Non traumatic Spinal Injury, Young Adults, Neuro-muscular, General Rehab and FES which is therapy led.

Due to increased demands on the FES service we are able to offer a permanent post for a Band 7 Paediatric Physiotherapist with neurological experience in our large FES Service. This post has leadership opportunities as you will be supporting the FES Service Lead in delivering clinical and managerial aspects of the Service. A key role will be supporting the Lead of the Service in developing the Paediatric FES Service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified, HCPC registered Physiotherapist who has extensive rehabilitation and neurological experience within Paediatrics. You will work in a multidisciplinary team and autonomously to provide high quality assessment and FES interventions. Formal training in FES is desirable but not an essential requirement. Regular clinical supervision and support will be provided by the Consultant Therapist and Paediatric Physio Lead in FES.

You must have good organisational skills including prioritisation of workload and time management skills and be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of up to date clinical trends and practices which are evidence based. You must be able to communicate effectively with patients/parents/carers/colleagues and other agencies and be able to generate written communication, which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible. Proven ability in managing complex clinical caseload with highly skilled communication skills and ability to provide holistic support for children and families to maximise their rehabilitation. Proven knowledge and skills in safeguarding.
