Are you a newly qualified Occupational Therapist? In the process of getting your HPCP registration? Or an experienced Band 5 looking for a new challenge?
Are you passionate about integrated working, functional outcomes for children, enabling educational staff and parents?
We are looking to recruit Band 5 OTs, to work across our SEND locality therapy team. Candidates will build relationships with schools, bridging the gap between health and education. You will be offer training programmes to schools, and empower the wider workforce to support children and families across Birmingham.
Main duties of the job
- o provide Occupational Therapy, functioning in partnership with other agencies and disciplines to support the early identification of need.
- Enable and empower staff, parents/caregivers to identify children's needs and provide strategies to help at the earliest opportunity.
- Provide training and bespoke coaching to children and young people, early years/ school staff and parents/caregivers.
- Consult and work collaboratively with children and young people, parents, caregivers and school staff to problem solve functional difficulties
- Participate in meetings with staff from the wider SEND locality teams, as required, to support early identification of need, ensuring specialist help though locality forums.
- Use specialist knowledge to inform clinical judgments and decision making
- Undertake differential diagnosis of cases and contribute to overall decision-making for complex cases supported by colleagues.

- Registered Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council
- Evidence of recent relevant CPD activities in specialist area
Desirable
- Full Membership of the College of Occupational Therapists.

- Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of individuals from minority groups.
