Job summary

We are looking to recruit 1.0 permanent Band 6 SLTs to work in our dysphagia team. We welcome applications from candidates who have a post registration paediatric dysphagia qualification or signed off competency in paediatric dysphagia, or have a willingness, enthusiasm and commitment to train in this area.

We also have current vacancy in our community clinics / outreach teams.

As a department we are seeking to work ever more closely with parents and carers, schools, and Early Years settings to address the Speech Language and Communication and Eating and Drinking Needs of the children of Birmingham.

We are working in localities developing local networks in order to build skills in the wider workforce and increase the impact of our interventions.

We offer a friendly and supportive working environment with a strong emphasis on CPD through access to specialist clinical support, sharing good practice and effective team working.

Main duties of the job

Your main duties will include:

  • Managing your own caseload of children with eating and drinking difficulties including assessment, diagnosis and intervention; using an enabling model to support the child and their family to achieve functional outcomes
  • Delivering care across a range of locations including education settings, clinics and family homes
  • Clinical supervision of NQPs and more junior members of staff
  • Maintaining your own professional development with appropriate CPD
