Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced senior crown and bridge senior dental technician to join our large, very busy multidisciplinary team at Birmingham Dental Hospital.
We make a full range of medical devices, including complex implant cases, full mouth rehab cases as well as less complex work for students training to be dentists, so covering a broad range of appliances.
We make work for on the premises and also out into the community.
This is a permanent position.
The successful candidate would work a 37.5 hour week, between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who can fit into a team 5 Cons technicians, and a wider team of 20 staff (Pros/Ortho/cons and admin total). Someone who can work well part of a team but also autonomously, and be able to work to strict deadlines and organise your own bench in accordance to due dates etc.
When the manager is not available, you will need to give out the work to the other cons staff (duty is shared with other band 6's).
Be able to construct a range of complex implant and full mouth rehab cases. Have a good knowledge of implant systems and components used to restore. Be able to converse with Clinicians/Consultants to discuss aspects of cases and give options and advice when needed, this is also the same to support our dental students.
To be able to use a computer based booking in/out system, and shelving own work in the absence of the admin.
To partake in Bi monthly lab meetings.
To help and direct junior dental technicians and give guidance when needed.
About us
We have a multidisciplinary laboratory serving the NHS and Birmingham University, undergraduate and post graduate dentists, covering 130000 patients' attendances.
We are a well established team mostly but are welcoming to new starters and are looking forward to expanding our team.
We work closely with our clinicians and students and have a good rapport with them and they are open to discussions regarding our ideas around the technical side, which has proven successful for the patients.
The team work very hard in the busy periods but is a friendly environment and quite jovial.
