Job summary

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality care to our patients and as part of the new developing Trust wide Post COVID Syndrome Service (PCSS) the post holder will be instrumental in leading this pathway.

We are seeking an experienced and well-motivated Occupational Therapist to provide effective and innovative clinical support together with outstanding leadership to develop this Service.

This exciting new post has been developed to provide clinical input into the multi-disciplinary PCCS that has recently been established across the Birmingham and Solihull footprint. The function of these new clinics will be to review patients referred with complex physical or mental health needs for further multi-disciplinary assessment and onward referrals to specialist Services if required.

Main duties of the job

To provide effective and innovative clinical support together with outstanding leadership to develop this Service.

The post holder will be expected to work multi-professionally, support other team members and contribute to the future development of the Service providing professional advice and expertise.

Your support will be integral to the future direction of the Service and the successful candidate will be expected to develop the Service in line with the national directives and system-wide agreements with our partners.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be required to initially work virtually with other multi-disciplinary specialist colleagues within a weekly 4 hour MDT clinic to discuss patients that have been referred into the Service. This commitment may increase with time and will transfer to face to face sessions once established and COVID secure.

Your support will be integral to the future direction of the Service and the successful candidate will be expected to develop the Service in line with the national directives and system-wide agreements with our partners.

You will also be required to ensure delivery of high quality patient centred care measured by clinical effectiveness, patient safety and patient experience as well as meeting the key performance measures as required by the Trust.

Qualifications / training

Essential

  • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality i.e COVID
  • Fieldwork Educator's certificate or attendance at Clinical Educators Course

Desirable

  • Evidence of leadership training

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-registration experience, providing a broad range of experience in core areas such as medicals, older people, rehabilitation
  • Highly developed professional clinical skills and patient flow management. This should include hands on experience with assessment and treatment of patients following COVID which can be applied in a variety of different clinical settings
  • Managing staff e.g. junior staff & therapy support workers
  • Able to demonstrate high levels of interdisciplinary working practices with a wide variety of clinical services/ health care professionals
  • Previous experience with developing strong working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders i.e GP's and the CCG
  • Team/Service development including implementation of change management principles
  • Experience of producing and developing reporting and data analysis tools
