Herts & West Essex Diabetic Eye Screening Programme Manager

Job summary

As Programme Manager, you will lead the operational delivery, performance, and continuous improvement of the local DESP, ensuring that high-quality, patient-centred screening services are consistently delivered across the region.

You'll work closely with the Clinical lead, Planned Care Pathway Lead, Assistant Direct of Specialist services, Programme Team Leads in HCT & ENHT & NHS England to maintain compliance with national screening standards and drive innovation in service delivery.

Main duties of the job

o Oversee day-to-day management of the Diabetic Eye Screening Programme across Herts & West Essex

o Ensure full compliance with national DESP standards, KPIs, and quality assurance requirements

o Lead service planning, performance monitoring, and reporting

o Manage relationships with staff within HCT & ENHT

o Support incident management, governance processes, and Quality Assurance visits

o Drive service improvements, pathway optimisation, and patient experience initiatives

o Provide leadership to programme staff

  • Extensive experience in a management/leadership role.
  • Proven experience in service management within the NHS or a similar environment
