Senior Hand Therapist

Job summary

The integrated Musculoskeletal Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic hand therapist ( OT or PT ) to join our hand therapy team based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

A developmental from Band 5 to Band 6 or secondment will be considered for the right applicant.

The post holder will carry out assessment, intervention, including splinting and rehabilitation, and evaluation of hand therapy patients using a variety of tools and techniques.

Trauma referrals are received daily from hand clinics and Consultant teams within our Hand Therapy Unit. You will be seeing patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions.

We are looking for sound clinical reasoning and communication skills, and an ability to work well within a team.

You will have regular informal/formal supervision with experienced senior therapists and will work as part of the wider community Musculoskeletal Service.

You must hold a full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Access to advice and support from a senior hand therapist is available on a regular basis
  • To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and team's clinical practice; to make suggestions to Clinical Lead/Head of Service for changes to practice by the team; to assist in the implementation of specific changes to practice; to contribute to the preparation of service protocols
  • To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
