SENIOR BAND 6 HAND THERAPIST - HANDS AND RHEUMATOLOGY (Occupational Therapist orPhysiotherapist)
The integrated Musculoskeletal Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Hand Therapist to join our Hand Therapy Team based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
The post holder will carry out assessment, intervention, including splinting and rehabilitation, and evaluation of Hand Therapy patients using a variety of tools and techniques.
Trauma referrals are received daily from busy Hand clinics and consultant teams within our Hand Therapy Unit. You will be seeing patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
We are looking for sound clinical reasoning and communication skills, and an ability to work well within a team.
You will have regular informal/formal supervision with experienced senior therapists and will work as part of the wider community Musculoskeletal Service.
You must hold a full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

- To perform advanced assessment and treatment of hands and plastics patients including splinting and rehabilitation programmes
- To assist in the formulation of clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner
- To hold responsibility for own case load. Supervision taking the form of regular one to one sessions with the line manager, informal daily supervision, formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences and reflective practice. Access to advice and support from a senior hand therapist is available on a regular basis
- To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and team's clinical practice; to make suggestions to Clinical Lead/Head of Service for changes to practice by the team; to assist in the implementation of specific changes to practice; to contribute to the preparation of service protocols
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
