Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic adult Speech and Language Therapy team. We are looking for 2 WTE band 6 Speech and Language Therapists.

These posts attract a 'Golden Hello' payment of £2,000: £1000 payable after 6 months (upon completion of successful probation period) and £1000 payable after 12 months. Not applicable for internal candidates.

There are opportunities across our stroke, community and ESD teams in East and North Hertfordshire. This role could be rotational or fixed depending on the applicants. You will have opportunities for joint MDT working as well as autonomous working. You will be given the opportunity to extend your skill set with a wide cohort of patients, including: Progressive Neurological; Stroke; Brain Injury; Dementia and Voice. You will be working alongside a Specialist MDT, including: Psychologists; Dieticians; Physiotherapists; Occupational Therapists; Consultants and Nurses. These roles would be an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 therapist looking to develop their skills or as a development opportunity for an experienced Band 5 therapist.

These posts will attract a high cost living allowance depending on the base location - 5% of basic salary subject to a minimum payment of £1,066 and a maximum payment of £1,845 per annum (depends on base).

A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential for community posts (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

You will be joining a highly experienced team of Speech and Language Therapists who work innovatively across acute, community and neurological rehabilitation settings. You will be working in an established and dynamic MDT, with many opportunities for joint working. There are frequent opportunities for career advancement and development posts within our service.

The Speech and Language Therapy Service in East & North Hertfordshire is an integrated acute and community service covering community clinics, inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation and the Acute and Stroke teams based at the Lister Hospital.

The post-holders will work closely with the Speech and Language Therapy team and the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide assessment, diagnosis and management of adults with acquired communication and swallowing needs and demonstrating effective clinical practice through continued learning, reflective practice and supervision. The post-holders will also be involved in providing support for more junior members of the team including newly qualified SLTs and SLTAs.
