We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to help support the Nurse/ Care Practitioners to provide a high quality service to our patients within our Nurse Led unit.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous healthcare experience in A&E, MIU, UTC. acute ward.
  • Is caring and respectful.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Be committed, flexible and loyal.
  • Be adaptable to different working environments

Main duties of the job

To assist the clinical and administrative teams to deliver and maintain high standards of care and meet the needs of the patients who use the Minor Injuries Unit.

In addition to the basic salary, this post attracts a High-Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary (pro rata where applicable).

A full valid driving license and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To assist the clinical and administrative teams to deliver and maintain high standards of care and meet the needs of the service users at the Minor Injuries Unit.
  • Providing service information and supporting anxious and distressed patients,
  • Working within all applicable practice procedural guidelines, policies and pathways relevant to the service.
  • Promote and use evidence-based practice to support the nurses to provide clinically effective care.
  • Ensure that the wellbeing of children/ families and vulnerable adults is safeguarded in accordance with national and local policies and procedures.
  • Have a good standard of computer skills to enable correct data input and management.
  • Provide health promotion advice on an individual basis and encourage patient self-management of health and well-being.
  • Recognise patients presenting with mental health needs in accordance with the National Service Framework (NSF) for Mental Health and report to nursing team.
  • Assisting in special and seasonal projects as requested.
  • Working cooperatively as part of a team to achieve the goals and objectives of the health care services and targets of the commissioners and providers.
  • Providing and maintaining the health promotion material.
  • Actively participating in practice and clinical meetings.
  • Developing own practice and knowledge to meet changes and objectives in service.
  • Maintaining and ordering clinical supplies and stock control.
  • Keep updated and be responsible for maintaining mandatory training.
  • Complete competency framework for the grade.
  • Working within the team, to participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, updating and evaluation of the service.
  • Familiarise with policies/protocols/guidance
  • Engage in supporting students, agency and substantive staff; acting as a resource, advisor and role model to colleagues in the delivery of care.
  • Responsible for ensuring the environment is safe, maintained and where needed improved.
  • To cover reception duties when required and assist with all administration requirements.
  • Help with performing departmental audits and ensuring that CQC standards are met and maintained .
