Pulmonary Rehab Respiratory Physiotherapist (Band 6/7)

Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

The Pulmonary Rehab (PR) service is recruiting a full or part time physiotherapist (band 6 or band 7 depending upon on experience) to cover a period of maternity leave on a temporary basis until the end of March 2024.

Although the post is temporary in the first instance, there is a possibility of this being extended due to funding being released as part of NHS England's plan to expand pulmonary rehab services over the next five years.

The postholder will be based at Nevells Road Health Centre in Letchworth but will be required to travel across east and north Hertfordshire, working in leisure centres, clinics, and patients' homes. In addition, the postholder may be required to work from home for part of the week.

You must hold a full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes - including business insurance - is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

This position is suitable for a physiotherapist with experience working at either band 5 or band 6 level.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the theory of pulmonary rehab with experience preferred but not essential.

Candidates must have a good knowledge of common respiratory conditions and how they present.

Main duties of the job

The service provides PR via online and face to face classes, currently held in leisure centres across east and north Hertfordshire, as well as within patient's homes (PR Home Delivery).

PR Home Delivery is a new pathway and focuses on patients who find it challenging to attend a PR class with barriers to exercise such as complex mental and physical health comorbidities.

The service is aware that this cohort of patients has found self-management and exercising to be even more difficult due to the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic.

These patients who are seen as "hard to reach" will need to be seen in their own homes at least initially.
