Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic adult Speech and Language Therapy team. We are looking for 2 WTE band 6 Speech and Language Therapists. These are permanent posts, rotating across our stroke, community and ESD teams. This rotation will allow for a range of experience, learning and professional development. Dysphagia competencies are a requirement of the role and experience of managing dysphagia is essential. You will be working alongside a Specialist MDT, including: Psychologists; Dieticians; Physiotherapists; Occupational Therapists; Consultants and Nurses. These roles would be an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 therapist looking to gain experience in different teams, or as a development opportunity for an experienced Band 5 therapist. They include opportunities for supervision and training, as you will be working alongside Rehabilitation Assistants and newly qualified Speech Therapists. Our service also regularly supports students from nearby universities.
These posts may attract a high cost living allowance due to the base location - 5% of basic salary subject to a minimum payment of £1,066 and a maximum payment of £1,845 per annum (depends on base).
A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential for community posts (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Main duties of the job
You will be joining a highly experienced team of Speech and Language Therapists who work innovatively across acute, community and neurological rehabilitation settings. You will be working within an established and dynamic MDT, with multiple opportunities for joint working. Our Community SLT service covers a wide range of specialisms including: Progressive Neurological Conditions; Acute Brain Injury; Stroke; Voice; Dysfluency and Mental Health.

The post-holders will be responsible for the assessment and management of adults with acquired communication, speech, language or eating and drinking disorders under the supervision of senior Speech and Language Therapists.
The Speech and Language Therapy Service in East & North Hertfordshire is an integrated acute and community service covering community clinics, inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation and the Acute and Stroke teams based at the Lister Hospital. There are frequent opportunities for gaining clinical skills in other areas and career progression.
