Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and patient focused medical professional to join our multidisciplinary team in the Rehabilitation unit at Danesbury neurological centre in Welwyn. You will work alongside the ward Leads to provide leadership and expert medical knowledge for the inpatient unit and identifying and taking forward quality improvement. You will deliver high quality, highly specialist clinical care to patients within scope of professional practice. You will work closely with the Lead Nurse, Clinical Quality Lead and other members of the Senior Team to continue to develop the service. You will be required to travel to various locations within Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust to provide attend meetings that cannot be held virtually. We will consider applicants who wish to work part time and we can be flexible with the working pattern.
Danesbury Neurological Centre has 19 neurological rehabilitation beds. We have specialist physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dieticians, psychologists, nurses. The maximum length of stay is 42 days.
Danesbury is part of HCT's Hertfordshire Neurological Service which offers adults with long-term conditions inpatient, outpatient and community health services across East and North Hertfordshire. All services are provided by teams of highly skilled healthcare professionals who work alongside their system partners to ensure pathways for this group of patients are seamless and patient centred.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to carry out the duties outlined below. The job description will be subject to review in the light of changing needs of the population.
- Deliver high quality medical support to patients looked after by HCT
- The postholders are required provide medical cover for the wards as part of a shared rota from Monday to Friday. The postholder's timetable will be agreed with the successful candidates.
- The postholders will provide medical cover to the unit. The successful candidates will be able to decide with HCT which ward(s) they will work on. It is hoped the successful candidates will work together as a team across the three areas. The postholders will need to Cross-cover for absent colleagues.
- The postholders will need to undertake, exceptionally, additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances and to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
- The postholders will be required to support GP trainees who are attached to HCT on rotational placements.
- Act in line with the NHS constitution and HCT values
- Observe policies and procedures written by the trust
