Job summary
We are seeking a
Band A dental Officer to work within the Worcestershire Community Dental Services.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and caring clinician to join our
team working at our Clinic in Evesham, this role will also include supporting the
service with Domiciliary and Urgent Dental Care for patients across
Worcestershire. In addition, we can also
support Dentists who may wish to progress with further training.
We are a Consultant-led
service providing dentistry to a wide range of patients including those
requiring Paediatric and Special Care Dentistry. Several of our clinics are
equipped to provide dental treatment with inhalation and/or intravenous
sedation and the service also provides dental treatment under general
anaesthesia at Kidderminster Hospital.
As well as
providing care in our clinical settings including urgent dental care, we work
with a wide range of other organisations and specialist services to deliver
dental treatment to people in their own homes or care homes as well as oral
health promotion support and advice across Worcestershire.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will benefit from a varied working
week which will include:
Surgery based clinics, assessing and treating
referred patients with additional and complex needs with support from
consultants and experienced senior dentists across Paediatric and Special Care
Dentistry
Urgent care clinics for patients who are unable
to access general dental practice and have been triaged with urgent dental
problems:
Diagnosing and managing acute dental pain and
dental trauma
Accessing and dressing teeth
Dental extractions
Patient referral into the Community Dental
Service if a patient meets the referral criteria
Onward referral to other specialist services as
required
The candidate will also have the
opportunity to provide the following or seek further training to progress:
Treatment under sedation
Provision of treatment under general anaesthesia
Provision of care in the domiciliary setting
Undertaking epidemiology data collection
You will work alongside the dental team, including
consultants, dental officers, specialty and core trainees, dental therapists
and dental nurses. You will be expected to become involved in audit and quality
governance.

needs are met, and referrals are appropriately undertaken.

if this is required

take responsibility for completing an appropriate level of clinical activity on
patients, sufficient to ensure that the service can meet contractual targets
for commissioners.

take responsibility for completing paperwork on time including completion and
transmission of FP17s to the Business Services Authority and completion of all
service paperwork.

contribute to the services Clinical Governance programme in ways relevant to
