Job summary
Band 6
Wheelchair Therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) 37.5 hours per
week, Monday to Friday, based at Worcestershire Wheelchair Service, Crown Lane,
Wychbold.
This role will work closely alongside highly specialised Wheelchair
Therapists, Assistant Practitioner, Technicians, Rehabilitation Engineers, and
admin team.
You will carry out skilled, holistic,
evidence-based seating and mobility assessments of children and adults in
clinic and within their home environment and community setting, including
schools, day centres and residential care settings.

Main duties of the job
Working as both part of a team and independently to
provide specialist skilled mobility and postural assessments and prescription
of wheelchair equipment for adults and children with long-term health needs
within Worcestershire.
Following assessment and
identification of posture and mobility goals, implement appropriate treatment
plan which may include prescription and provision of wheelchair equipment
including pressure relief.
Advise and provide training for
other health professionals on wheelchair and seating.
Be part of service development
within the Wheelchair Service, to include clinical and administration, in line
with regional and national strategies.
Provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and
appraisal. Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the
Service.
Communicate patient specific information to other clinical
teams and agencies, including regional specialist centres in order to maximise
safety and provide seamless care between health and social services.
Work
collaboratively and in partnership with other agencies and services in order to
achieve identified goals for individual patients and improve patient pathway.
Actively participate in the Regional
Wheelchair Therapist Group and other appropriate meetings and training events.
