Job summary
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work within Worcestershire
CAMHS alongside of our colleagues in the Youth Justice team (YOT) as one of 4
band 6 mental health practitioners working within the youth justice teams in
the West Mercia force area. Opportunities to work in both CAMHS and YOT do not
arise very often so if you have a desire and interest to work with this
vulnerable population then this may be the right role for you. Young people
open to offending services are likely to have associated difficulties with
their mental well-being hence the need for a post that straddles both CAMHS and
YOT. You will be offered expert advice and supervision from the current
postholder as well as MDT support from both YOT and CAMHS. This is an excellent
opportunity to work autonomously knowing that you have the support of 2
different teams promoting mental health recovery and treatment of this vulnerable
population. You will be a qualified professional and we hope you would join us
as a full time employee.
This post has been
deemed by the Trust as eligible for relocation expenses which will be
applicable for suitable successful candidate(s). Please see attached
policy for more information.
Main duties of the job
Within the YOT you will be an accessible and visible member
of the team, available to YOT colleagues to discuss their concerns, queries,
etc regarding mental health illness. You will offer training, support,
consultation, and advice to YOT colleagues and promote the mental well-being
and mental health recovery of young people under their service. You will hold a
bespoke caseload of young people open to YOT who are felt to need specialist
mental health intervention. Other duties may include attending court or police
cells to support young people, advocating for their mental health needs. You
will work remotely and also within the YOT offices as well as in CAMHS. Within
CAMHS you will be seen as a member of our service and therefore someone with
skills and experience to assess and treat moderate to severe mental health
illness. You will have access to the wider CAMH MDTs taking part in clinical
discussions, supervision groups, and after a period of induction, take part in
the CAMHS duty rota.
