Job summary

We have a great opportunity for a psychologist to join our Herefordshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Learning Disability Team. This is a part-time role (22.5 hours), offering a hybrid model of working combining virtual and in-person working, with a clinical base in Hereford.

In this role you would be mainly focused on providing clinical assessment and interventions to children and young people with learning disabilities and their families, offering a range of interventions including opportunity to offer consultation to families and their network of support. You would be working closely with other psychologists, managers and CAMHS clinicians and be supported to have a manageable job plan.

Herefordshire CAMHS has strong links with the Worcestershire CAMHS teams, both sitting in the same Trust, and the service has an excellent track record for supporting staff with CPD and working in specialist areas within CAMHS.

There are good links with local clinical training courses in Birmingham and Coventry & Warwick Universities, and regular opportunities to supervise trainee psychologists and contribute to training on the training courses.

Main duties of the job

CAMHS LD sits within our core CAMHS service, alongside Eating Disorder and Duty team.

The cultural values and social ideologies at the core of the CAMHS LD Team are about shifting perspectives towards the social model of disability. Thinking about the child in the context of their support networks requires CAMHS LD Clinicians to always hold in mind broader environmental, formal networks and services. As such, the team has established strong connections with schools across the county, as well as, the Local Authority, enabling greater opportunity for joined up care and support to children and their families.

You would be offering assessment, formulation, consultation and intervention with an emphasis on child-centred and evidence-based care using a range of psychological interventions that best meets the needs of the young person. This can include direct work with the young person, family work or consultation/liaison with the network surrounding the child.

You would provide clinical leadership supporting the MDTs, providing supervision to other staff including trainee/assistant psychologists and contributing to audit, research, teaching/development work.
