Job summary
Band 6 Development to Nurse, Social Worker or OT or please let us know if
you are a newly qualified or are a soon to qualify Band 5 as we can offer a
robust preceptorship programme with potential for Band 6 after 12-18 months
(subject to evidence of competency)
One of the NHS Long Term Plan ambitions is to improve the provision
of crisis assessment and brief response within the Emergency Department (ED)
and in community settings. Offering Children and Young People (CYP) assessment,
alongside Intensive Home Treatment services for those who might otherwise
require inpatient care. We will also offer intensive support that exceeds the
normal capability of a generic children and young peoples mental health
community team.
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust are
developing a consistent home treatment provision, across Herefordshire. This
team will operate 7 days a week between the hours of 8am and 8pm. The teams will offer an Intensive Home
Treatment service aimed at CYP who might otherwise require inpatient care, or
intensive support that exceeds the normal capability of a generic children and
young peoples mental health community team.
Main duties of the job
The role will
be a little unpredictable, as you can be called at any time during a working
day to support in a crisis. We will complete comprehensive risk assessments for
every CYP; these can be completed independently although will often discuss patients
that are more complex as a Multi-disciplinary team. The team works hard to
provide a fully integrated service for our CYP, so it is not just about making
sure their needs are catered for while they are in crisis, but also within the
wider system. We talk to families and carers, GPs, community mental health
teams, social care teams and voluntary organisations, and ensure the most
appropriate follow up support is in place, be this through an intensive home
treatment package from the team or through core CAMHS/voluntary agencies.
