Job summary

If you are looking for an exciting new challenge that will allow you to use your clinical skills to make a difference, there is a fantastic opportunity to join our Worcestershire Integrated neurology team as a band 7 Epilepsy nurse, working 30-37.5 hours.

We are looking for a nurse experienced in the care of patients with epilepsy and learning disabilities, who is motivated and passionate about developing their knowledge, skills and management of these patients as well as supporting their families and carers. The successful candidate will work as be part of a supportive multidisciplinary neurology team. You will need to be a non-medical prescriber or commit to completing the V300 within a year of commencing the role. We need someone who is passionate and flexible about delivering high quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

This role primarily looks after individuals with learning disabilities who have epilepsy as well as some patients with epilepsy across the neurological services. The successful candidate will be required to work independently providing education and information, advice, and support to patients in their own home and within clinics, as well as remotely via phonecalls or video conferencing.

You will also be required to liaise and work closely with other health care professionals in ensuring that patient care needs are met accordingly, and that care is delivered to a high standard.

The role with involve working closely with and support from the consultant neurologists as well as the 2 other specialist epilepsy nurses. There will be joint medical and nurse clinics as well as running nurse led clinics.

The role will sit within the supportive structure of the Integrated Neurology service of specialist nurses and therapists as well as closely linking with the Learning Disabilities services.

  • Clinical Masters qualification or a combination of qualifications and experience to an equivalent level in a relevant discipline
