Job summary

Due to investment we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic clinician to work within the Mental Health Liaison Team.

We are a small supportive team, offering regular supervision and reflective sessions. We very much work as a team, offering high levels of support, strong communication, encouragement and compassion.

You will work alongside our physical health colleagues within the acute hospital. This makes every day fresh and exciting and will provide you with new learning opportunities, it allows you to work with diverse, complex adult patients. You will be an important figure in advocating for patients and promoting parity of esteem within the acute setting.

This will involve completing biopsychosocial mental health assessments and the ability to effectively signpost while forging links with community organisations across health and social care. You will build & maintain effective relationships with health professionals in the hospital to raise awareness and offer education in regard to mental health issues.

We are seeking adaptable, flexible mental health practitioners who wish to develop their skills within the hospital setting (Newly Qualified Considered). The hours are 37.5 worked over 3/4 days apart time hours considered. (No nights shifts).

You should have a Professional Registration in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational therapy.

Main duties of the job

It's a little unpredictable, as you can be called at any time to a crisis situation, we discuss referrals each morning and twice weekly we review the caseloads with our consultant psychiatrist. We complete comprehensive risk assessments for every patient, these can be completed independently although sometimes we discuss more complex patients as a Multi-disciplinary team. The team works hard to provide a fully integrated service for our patients, so it's not just about making sure their needs are catered for while they are in the hospital, but also when they leave. We talk to families and carers, GPs, community mental health teams, social care teams, community nurses, physiotherapists and voluntary organisations, and anyone who is necessary to ensure a full care plan is in place for a patient when they leave hospital, so the support they need at home can start the minute they arrive.

About us

We are community hospitals, neighbourhood teams and community nursing services across Worcestershire and the provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services across both Herefordshire and Worcestershire. We work in partnership with other organisations to keep our community well at home for as long as possible.

We provide services for people of all ages, across a range of settings, experiencing both physical and/or mental health conditions.

We have an open and supportive culture, recognised by the CQC and other external regulators. We want you to thrive, offering you every opportunity to develop. We will support you; help you fulfil your ambitions with a varied and flexible training programme; and empower you to make positive changes within your team or service. We endeavour to offer an attractive work-life balance, with flexibility in our approach to help you get the most out of your career.

We provide our staff with direct access to a wealth of resources to support their wellbeing, from our Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub, to wellbeing festivals or access to free online exercise classes.

At the core of our values, we are committed to equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights. We take every opportunity to strengthen our approach to equality and diversity in delivering best patient care and the employment of our staff.
