Join
our team as a Band 2 Combined Healthcare Support worker/Receptionist, based in
Redditch and Bromsgrove. We pride ourselves in providing outstanding sexual
health care to patients across Worcestershire, as part of a county wide sexual
health service.
We
have a 30 hour per week vacancy, which can be worked over 4 or 5 days on a rota
basis, to cover 3 sites in Redditch and Bromsgrove (Arrowside, Princess of
Wales and Smallwood) which will include some evenings and Saturdays.
This
post is an excellent opportunity to develop both clinical and administrative
skills within sexual health services. We will provide the resources for you to
develop and progress and offer flexibility, continual professional development
as well as a wide range of wellbeing and support.

Main duties of the job
On a day to day basis you will provide a range of
reception/clerical duties which include meeting, greeting and registering patients,
either face to face or by telephone, as a first point of call for patients
presenting to sexual health services.
You will also assist clinical teams in delivering sensitive care to both
male and female patients; by acting as a chaperone during examinations and
procedures always promoting their dignity and comfort.
Your role includes the opening and closing of clinics,
cleaning, stocking and maintaining the clinic environment.
You will take blood and other samples from patients and
assist in the preparation and processing of samples, including on site
microscopy.
Due to the sensitive nature of sexual health, there is a
huge emphasis on patient confidentiality and the ability to always be non-judgemental.

Administrative
Responsibility for
the registration of patients and correct data inputting onto a bespoke software
system.
Undertake basic clerical tasks e.g. photocopying, filing
etc. and word processing as required, to produce routine letters, memo’s,
labels etc. Operate an internet telephone system and receive and dispatch
clinic post.
Managerial
Be responsible for ensuring patients’ records are secure at
the end of the clinic day and It systems closed down appropriately. Have shared responsibility for securing
pharmacy stock at the end of the working day and opening and closing the clinic
premises when necessary.
Clinical
Assist colleagues during the sensitive examination and
treatment of patients within the department, always promoting their dignity and
comfort. You will take blood and other
samples from patients and assist in the preparation and processing of
laboratory samples, so will have frequent contact with body fluids. You will also be taught to undertake condom
demonstrations and pregnancy tests. You
will also be required to provide occasional support to distressed patients.
Communication, Liaison, Analysis and Judgment
You will answer basic telephone queries and pass other
queries to appropriate members of staff, respecting the confidentiality of
information always concerning patients and associated others, both on and off
duty. You will give information
(including negative results) to patients, answering basic queries, both in
person and by telephone and communicate and liaise with medical and nursing
staff as necessary.
Planning, Organisation, Policy and Service Development
You will make appointments for clinical procedures and
follow up as required for patients, always observing local and national
policies. You will attend and
participate in team meetings and clinical supervision. You will also be expected to support audits and
patient surveys.
Physical and Financial Resources
Participate with ordering and receiving stock as necessary
and ensure stock rotation to facilitate the smooth running of services.
Human Resources
You might be asked to provide cover on site and at other
bases as required and demonstrate own duties to new starters or agency staff.
