Job summary
The Complex Needs Service (CNS) supports patients diagnosed
with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder using the Structured Clinical
Management framework. This is a specialist role, working as part of a
well-resourced close-knit team where your contributions will play a significant
part in a persons recovery.
Your role as an occupational therapist will be one element
in a structured treatment package. You will work alongside the team which
comprises psychologists, a social worker, consultant medical
psychotherapist and peer support workers. The team also has two occupational
therapy assistants (OTAs) whom you will work closely with.
Your
responsibilities will be the planning of, overseeing implementation of, and evaluation
of occupational therapy interventions. You will triage patients that enter the
CNS caseload and then assess and case-manage the occupational therapy input for
those that have the highest occupational needs. This is a 10-12 month fixed
term contract.
Main duties of the job
- You will work one day a week, 9am-5pm,
excluding bank holidays, from NHS community bases. At interview we will explore
your preferred working day.
- You will oversee the occupational therapy (OT)
input that is delivered to patients on the CNS caseload, providing case
management, from assessment through to evaluation.
- You will complete initial assessments and
develop care plans.
- You will work with a team of OTAs. You will hold
overall responsibility for the OT caseload. The OTAs see patients weekly for
1-1 sessions and implement the care plans that you develop.
- You will undertake regular reviews with both
patient and OTA present, to manage barriers, shape the care plan, and indicate care
plan completion.
- You will use MOHO tools.
- All patients are invited to two OT-led optional
groups delivered by the OTAs. You will have opportunity to attend and will
play a key role in the groups ongoing development.
- You will have regular Clinical and Management
supervision.
