Job summary
These are part time posts working 22.5 hours per week. However, we
would consider less hours for the successful candidate but would have to be a
minimum of 15 hours.
We are looking for two motivated individuals with lived experience to support our current quality improvement programme on our older adult mental health inpatient wards. The post will be funded via the Royal College of Psychiatry`s Culture of Care Programme.
This programme aims to improve the culture of inpatient mental health, learning disability and autism for patients and staff so that they are safe, therapeutic and equitable places to be cared for, and fulfilling places to work.
Integrated Lived Experience takes the form of true co-production, the role focusses on creating a supportive and compassionate atmosphere for both staff and patients. There is an emphasis on developing change ideas in line with the programme alongside the wider MDT and core project team.
We can offer flexible working and will be supporting the successful applicant with training whilst in post.
These posts are fixed term post due to time
limited nature of the funding which will end in
12 months. We reserve the right to
end this contract sooner with appropriate notice.

Main duties of the job
Role Requirements
Establish supportive and respectful
relationships with people using mental health services.
Provide support in relation to the Culture of
Care Programme through lived experience whilst maintaining professional
boundaries.
Liaise with patients, carers, and health
colleagues to embed the philosophy of the Culture of Care programme within
Older Adult Mental Health Services.
Engage in supporting and developing change
ideas, attending meetings and workshops related to the Culture of Care
Programme.
Develop links with the Culture of Care
champions and Culture of Care coach. Attend culture of care conferences,
online training and meetings
Share ideas about ways of achieving Culture of
Care change ideas whilst drawing on lived experiences.
Actively participate in Team Meetings and
support the Culture of Care project team when implementing change ideas,
reporting regularly to the project group to ensure effective communication.
Actively participate in ward-based community
and carer groups to engage patients and carers in the Culture of Care Programme
change ideas.

Through sharing wisdom from their own experiences, Lived Experience Workers will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others.
The role will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users for them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery process. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, they will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of personally valued roles and connection to local communities.
The Lived Experience Worker will act as a recovery champion and an ambassador of recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations. There is also an expectation that Lived Experience Workers will be involved in the on-going development of Lived Experience Worker roles in the Trust.
