Job summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and adaptable healthcare or occupational therapy/physio assistant to join our team to work 35hrs on a rota system which includes late/early shifts and weekend working.
The ability to use your initiative, demonstrate excellent communication skills and respond flexibly as a lone worker and within a skilled interdisciplinary team are essential requirements of the post.
You will be predominantly working in the community with stroke survivors and their families
You will be part of a passionate and dynamic Community Stroke Service which supports stroke survivors with their rehabilitation throughout the county of Worcestershire. The whole team has a strong work ethic but are extremely flexible and supportive in the balance of work and home life. The visits will predominantly cover the South of the county, but covering visits in the North will also be expected.
The role will provide you with variety and no two days are the same. You will need to have some knowledge of stroke and its effects and an understanding of rehabilitation.

Please note the Trust will not routinely provide sponsorship to work for this role. In addition to meet Home Office salary threshold you must have the significant experience to be offered top of the pay band AND work a minimum of 35.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Your role will be to deliver therapy treatment programmes and monitor the patients health status, whilst supporting and encouraging independence within activities of living. The programmes are written by highly skilled therapists who can support and guide your understanding in delivering rehabilitation programmes. Occasionally there are some administrative duties, including visit planning.
Stroke is on a vast spectrum and no individual stroke survivor has a standard presentation. You will be involved with physiotherapy treatment, cognitive rehabilitation and speech and language therapy. You will be supported over a year to achieve the necessary stroke competencies at this level. You will also be expected to participate within the team to support the psychological well-being of our patients and their loved ones. It is a most rewarding job in seeing real positive changes.
You will receive clinical supervision 6-8 weekly by a Band 6 colleague. We have a rolling programme of in-service education which we encourage everyone to participate in. There is also a wide range of well-being support.
