Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, highly motivated School Health Support Worker to become part of the Worcestershire Public Health Nurse Team. The successful applicant will be part of a new, innovative model which will transform health services for children, young people and families across Worcestershire.
The School Health Support Worker role encompasses aspects of the Healthy Child Programme, working within schools and communities, undertaking the National Childhood Measurement Programme and supporting School Health Nurses.
The 0-19 Public Health Nursing service operates across six localities Redditch, Bromsgrove, Worcester, Malvern, Wyre Forest and Wychavon. You would be based within one District but will be asked to work in other areas to complete the Programme, mileage expenses are provided.

You will be well supported and offered specific training to become competent and confident at the School Health Support Worker role.

Main duties of the job
Under the direction of the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN), you will facilitate health screenings for Reception, Year 6, and Year 9 students by assisting with the setup and administration.
The candidate will engage and support children, young people, and their parents/carers in completing necessary questionnaires and understanding the screening process.
The candidate will organise and conduct National Child Measurement Programme measurements for Reception and Year 6 students, ensuring accurate height and weight recordings in accordance with national standards.
Supporting the coordination of NCMP sessions and the timely input of data for national reporting will be part of the role
The candidate will promote key public health messages and healthy lifestyle initiatives during school events, parent evenings, and community engagements, focusing on healthy weight and general health and wellbeing linked to the Healthy Child Programme and High Impact Areas.
