Prescribing Governance Pharmacist

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and motivated pharmacist with broad clinical knowledge and a good understanding of medicines optimisation to join our team. This is a new senior role, which has been created with a dedicated remit to support cost-effective prescribing and medicines decisions, whilst optimising use of our digital systems to deliver cost savings across the Trust. You must be able to work collaboratively to deliver the highest quality of care, and to encourage the development of others, the service and yourselves. It will involve travel across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Currently there are no weekend duties, bank holiday working or late nights. You may be expected to work some Saturday mornings in the future. For further discussions about the role or flexible working, please contact us. Main duties of the job

You will need to be a confident decision maker, with clear leadership skills, excellent pharmaceutical knowledge and a sound understanding of pharmacy service and hospital service. The post holder will

Deliver pharmaceutical care to patients in the Trust; recommend, substantiate, and communicate best therapeutic options for patients and implement changes in prescribing practice to ensure evidence-based medicine is followed as appropriate.

Support the medicines optimisation agenda at individual clinical service level. This includes the provision of clinical service level medicine usage reports and to contribute to policy and protocol development to support the safe and cost-effective use of medicines

Work as part of an integrated team supporting prescribers across the Trust in optimising the use of medicines and other prescribable produces.

Be responsible for the development and delivery of a medicines optimisation plan for the Trust.
