Job summary

This is a part time post working 15 hours per week.

We are looking for a part-time, highly enthusiastic, and motivated Oral Health Improvement (OHI) Officer working 2 days per week. This is a new post, from additional investment, to cover Herefordshire. The post will be part of a Team working alongside Worcestershire OHI and will sit within the Consultant Led Worcestershire Community Dental Service.

The post holder will assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of oral health programmes which will raise awareness and improve the oral health of people living within Herefordshire and will work alongside the existing Oral Health Improvement Team within Worcestershire.

If you have experience delivering oral health improvement programmes and enjoy working with communities to improve oral health outcomes, then joining this new team might be the role for you.

Main duties of the job

  • Identify and define individual target groups and establish their requirements for oral health promotion training.
  • Plan, develop, organise and deliver Oral Health Education and Promotion Activities within Herefordshire, and support the wider oral health promotion service development across Herefordshire and Worcestershire
  • Review resource needs across the administrative service and role area to ensure delivery.
  • Undertake the collection of appropriate and accurate information to facilitate service contract requirements and developments.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate training programmes and projects for key stakeholders within the area such as dental teams, Public Heath, Health Visitors, School Health Nurses, Dieticians, children centres, care homes and care agencies.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for the county audiences, using a range of equipment including laptop, projector and visual display boards.
  • Support in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports relating to Oral Health Promotion activity and the delivery of KPIs
  • Work in partnership with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders in delivering effective Oral Health Promotion.
