This is an exciting opportunity for
a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Redditch Neighbourhood Mental
Health Team.
The successful candidate will
work within the Redditch Neighbourhood Mental Health Team, embedding the principles of Occupational Therapy
by using the philosophy of occupation within a recovery framework.
Our Occupational Therapists are based within
multi-disciplinary teams and as such some team responsibilities of a clinical
nature are required. You would be working as part of a well-established
Neighbourhood Mental Health Team. The role will involve facilitating occupational focused group interventions and delivering occupational
therapy specific interventions to patients within the Redditch Neighbourhood
Mental Health Team. The role will also offer service development
opportunities as well as the supervision of junior staff and students.
The post is for 37.5 hours a
week Monday to Friday,
We have a strong commitment to clinical
supervision and Continuing Professional Development (CPD), offering a
supportive and proactive environment with opportunities for supervision,
training and peer support, both locally and countywide. You will be supported by the Occupational Therapy team and will have
access to regular clinical supervision with the Occupational Therapy Lead. We hold regular peer supervision sessions and
Occupational Therapy service development meetings with all the OT staff working
across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Main duties of the job
Work without direct supervision to assess, plan, implement and
evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions with autonomy in community
settings. to include lone working e.g. patients own home.
Ability to use your initiative and creative skills
in developing patient centred Occupational Therapy specific interventions
Utilising standardised assessments within The Model
of Human Occupation to develop specific Occupational Therapy care plans.
To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/patient centred
principles within the occupational model.
To provide leadership through supervision, induction, training and
education of OTs, support staff and volunteers according to organisational
policy and accepted professional standards.
To demonstrate a commitment to the education of OT students
ensuring the maintenance of clinical standards through regular supervision of
students on practice placement
To work in collaboration with the MDT and with
voluntary organisations, local authority and other appropriate health and
social care sectors.
To maintain clinical
records in accordance with legal requirements and professional standards.
Application of the Model of Human Occupation
throughout assessment and interventions with patients.
Communicate and promote Occupational Therapy within
the MDT and as part of the Occupational Therapy Service.
Attending MDT meetings, participate in
professionals meetings, signpost to adjunct services depending on patient need

and/or group interventions using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in
order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
Apply a high level of understanding of the
effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and
adaptations to the clients social ad physical environment. Assess the
occupational needs of defined client group and establish and evaluate
appropriate treatment programmes.

psychoeducational approaches across the locality.
Provide education, consultation and advice to
other care settings e.g. Nursing Homes, Primary Care and other specialist
mental health services.
Have in depth knowledge of the Mental Health
Act and implications on Occupational Therapy intervention.
Carry out complex risk assessment involving
wide consultation and collaboration.
