We provide a specialist Inpatient service for adults with mental health needs across 3 inpatient wards and 2 rehabilitation units.

Due to promotion we are looking for a dynamic, motivated and passionate person to join us as a Staff Nurse on the Hadley Unit.

Hadley Unit is a 9 bed mixed gender Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit that is situated in Worcester. We work across a 24 hour period, and the postholder will be expected to work long days, nights and weekend on a rotational basis.

The Hadley Unit has the regions first state of the art Sensory Room within a PICU. Our vision is to be able to offer alternative treatment methods and coping strategies that empower patients throughout their on-going recovery.

Part of your role is to ensure patient care is of the highest standards, you act as a role model at all times and use your initiative to maintain quality and safety. You will assist in supporting and educating junior staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in maintaining high standards of patient care, ensuring individuality and privacy are maintained.
  • Ensure that each patient in their care receives an individual nursing assessment and is the subject of a regularly updated care plan formulated in conjunction with the patient.
  • Ensure that information regarding patients needs and progress is communicated promptly and accurately to their relatives and other professionals involved in their care.
  • Facilitate open and harmonious communications amongst all staff within the ward, as well as with other departments.
  • Organise and actively participate in activities to meet assessed occupational needs of the patients.
  • Policy and Service Development
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all Trust policies and procedures and apply them as necessary. Particular attention is drawn to the post holders personal responsibility for the maintenance of patient confidentiality and adherence to local Health and Safety policies.
  • Observe and implement the requirement of the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • Adhere to the NMC code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of professional matters and constantly keep abreast of research-based innovations in the field of Mental Health.
  • Assist in the provision of activity and statistical information required by the Trust.
  • Utilise all available resources efficiently and effectively
  • Assist with the education of all trainees as appropriate.
