We are looking for a forward thinking, open, individual to join us and continue the excellent work already being undertaken. (Culture) As our Head of Estates you will be responsible for the overall management of Estates operations across our many sites and provide expert support.

The post will be based at Kings Court 1, Worcester, but will have responsibility across both Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to lead and inspire teams.

Main duties of the job

Liaising with Senior, Clinical & Departmental Managers to develop Estates services in accordance with national standards, mandatory controls and the Trust's corporate policies and strategies.

Provide expert specialist and professional construction, building and or engineering advice to other estates staff, directors, senior management and other associated stakeholders.

Constantly review relevant standards to ensure that national directives and statutory obligations are complied with, and account is taken of new technologies.

Negotiate and implement appropriate Service Level Agreements and formal contracts for third party organisations as appropriate ensuring that service standards and financial profitability are achieved whilst minimising risk.

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate courses and experience to masters equivalent level
  • Membership of appropriate professional body, e.g., Chartered Institute of Building Services, Engineers (CIBSE), Institute of Engineers and Technicians (IET), Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM), RICS and/or RIBA
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer

Experience

Essential

  • Estates/Facilities management and engineering infrastructure experience in complex environments
  • Strategy Development
  • Wide portfolio of responsibilities
  • Estates related IT infrastructure development
  • Experience of significant organisational change including market testing of in-house functions and overseeing contracted-out functions
  • Experience of delivering capital projects, planned preventative maintenance and emergency/reactive repairs
  • Experience and understanding of the maintenance of medical device equipment
  • Experience of designing and procuring technical/complex external contracts in partnership with Procurement professionals
  • Expenditure limits and authorisations relevant to the organisations standard financial instructions (SFis)
