Job summary
Worcestershire Urgent Care Dental Service is seeking to recruit additional local dental practitioners to the team of experienced dentists participating in the Out of Hours Emergency Dental Service managed by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust.
This service provides emergency and urgent care to patients who have been initially triaged by our trained dental care professionals and NHS111.
The sessions are undertaken at our Moor Street Clinic in Worcester at Weekends and Bank holidays. The shifts are from 09:00-13:00.
The Trust liaises closely with NHS England who commission this service and the Local Professional Network. There is a locally agreed sessional rate with enhancements for the Christmas Bank Holidays.
This role would suit experienced dentists who wish to contribute in the provision of emergency and urgent care to the local population and to develop and enhance this particular skill.
Main duties of the job
The main role of the Primary Care Dental Officer is to provide emergency and urgent care identified through the dental triage process.
The duties may under exceptional circumstances need to be beyond the end of the services formal end of normal operating hours period where a late emergency patient presents prior to the service closing or completion of an urgent patient treatment extends beyond the formal service closing time. It is expected that these instances will be very few in number, by exception and where no other clinical alternative is possible to ensure the safety of the patient.
You will be working as part of a small clinical team in a modern surgery at Moor Street Clinic in Worcester, where patients are triaged in advance by an experienced trained Receptionist and booked directly into clinic slots.
