Job summary

This exciting opportunity has arisen to join the CAMHS Herefordshire/Worcestershire Community Eating Disorders team.

You will be part of an integrated team, interested in leading service improvement, development and is passionate about helping young people with eating difficulties.

This post can be based either in Hereford or Worcestershire, offering specialist intervention across both counties, working 22.5 hours per week.

We are looking for a psychologist with clinical experience and expertise in working with children with eating disorders, providing knowledge and training in the psychological approaches and interventions, undertake assessments and formulations. You will benefit from working within a supportive and valued team of professionals, linking with other Psychologists working as part of the wider CAMHS Service. Receive high-quality supervision and appraisals with CPD, training and career progression opportunities, flexible working available.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to.

Ensure that psychological services are based on best clinical and professional practice, in accordance with the objectives of the Trust and the Service Delivery Unit

Hold a specialist caseload of patients with complex needs

In collaboration with the Service Lead for Psychological Interventions, develop and support the implementation of psychological interventions and psychologically informed practice within the wider service

Candidates should have experience of supervising others, working with families and young people with complex emotional difficulties and skills in leadership.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all mandatory training including PBM (subject to Occupational Health Clearance).

There are good links with local clinical training courses in Birmingham and Coventry & Warwick Universities, and regular opportunities to supervise trainee psychologists and contribute to training on the training courses.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist within the relevant area
  • Sufficient training and experience to be recognised by the Division of Clinical/Counselling Psychology as a suitably qualified psychologist to offer clinical placements to trainee Clinical/Counselling Psychologists
  • Training and experience in the application of psychological knowledge within several different specialties
  • Experience of assessing and providing a wide range of psychological interventions to patients presenting with the full degree of clinical severity and across a range of clinical mental health presentations
  • Experience of conducting clinically relevant research

Knowledge

  • Knowledge required specific to the role and clinical area.
  • Advanced theoretical and applied knowledge of psychological approaches for people with psychological problems including specialised psychological assessments and interventions for patients with complex and psychological presentations and physical health difficulties.
  • Well-developed psychometric assessment skills
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis, as practiced within the field of Clinical/Counselling Psychology.

Qualifications

  • BSc/BA Honours degree at 2:1 or above in psychology
  • Post graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Post qualification training in specific, evidence-based techniques for use with clients with complex psychological presentations and/or physical health difficulties, across the age span
  • Evidence of regular further professional training and experience as required by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the BPS
  • Eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) by the BPS
  • Eligible for registration as a Practitioner member of the BPS Division of Clinical/Counselling Psychology
  • Registered with HCPC as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist.
