Job summary

A highly rewarding opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistants to join our older adult inpatient mental health team at Woodland Ward, based at New Haven in Bromsgrove

Woodland Ward provides specialist assessment and treatment for older adults experiencing mental health difficulties so experience of supporting people with mental health difficulties is important. Experience working as an OTA is not essential as full training and on-going support will be provided, however, we are seeking someone with a passion for supporting mental health recovery. The successful candidate will receive training and to be able to support a range of assessments and 1:1 and group interventions

Kindness, empathy, reliability, and dependability are important key qualities required for this post along with a commitment to provide excellent care. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential This full-time, 37.5 hr week post incorporates weekdays and weekends

Main duties of the job

Training and on-going support will be provided. Under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist the OTA will be required to support OT assessments and 1:1 and group interventions to support mental health recovery and wellbeing. Additionally, the OTA may be asked to support the OT or other member of the MDT in facilitating patient/carer groups and other quality improvement initiatives.

The OTA will need to complete daily clinical note entries (online) and as required by the OT to contribute to completion of daily/weekly audits (e.g., checking equipment) and contribute to patient care plans, attending MDT meetings, supporting OT/PT students on placement. This role incorporates home visits and community access therefore a car driver with use of a car each working day is essential.
