Job summary

We are looking to recruit a passionate, engaging, and dynamic individual who exemplifies the Trusts values to support the Head of Quality and Patient Safety in leading strategic and operational service delivery of our corporate team. This includes collaborative implementation of the Patient Safety Strategy, managing Clinical Effectivness, CQC and OFSTED regulation, and Patient Relations. The role is full time, over office hours. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work with the Head of Quality and Patient Safety to drive the Organisations Quality and Safety portfolio in operationally and strategically manging the corporate service workstreams: Patient Safety, Clinical Effectiveness and Regulation, and Patient Relations. The post holder will act as one of the Trusts Patient Safety Specialists and will lead on the implementation of the Patient Safety Strategy (PSIRF). The post holder will deputise for the Head of Quality and Patient Safety, offering excellent opportunity for exposure to executive level and system working.

  • Demonstrable extensive experience relating to clinical governance and patient safety
  • Demonstrable experience of direct support to patients, families and carers in distressing situations
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting staff who are recovering from being involved in an untoward patient safety incident
  • Experience of reviewing and leading Serious Incident review panels and Complaint investigations
  • Experience of working across professional groups and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience of improving patient safety in services through the application of Quality Improvement methodologies
  • Experience of managing extensive change within services
  • Experience of implementing new systems or new national policy within an NHS organisation

Desirable

  • Previous experience at Senior Manager or Manager level

  • Highly developed knowledge of Clinical Governance/Risk Management/Patient Safety issues and the principles of Clinical Governance and Risk Management within the NHS reinforced by significant experience in the Clinical/ Management field
  • Detailed understanding of PSIRF
  • Highly developed knowledge of Safety II
  • Detailed knowledge of mortality governance and learning from deaths
  • Specialist knowledge of managing within an NHS healthcare setting

  • Sound understanding of the health and social care landscape, and the place of external partners in this landscape
