An unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for working with older adults to support the inpatient mental health service based at NewHaven, The Princess of Wales Community Hospital.

Previous experience in mental health is desirable, however is not essential as the post holder would receive peer clinical supervision with an emphasis on supporting mental health patients.

Main duties of the job
The role includes requires you to:
undertake physiotherapy assessments and treatment
of patients who have been admitted to hospital due to their mental health needs,
including dementia.
use health promotion, interpersonal skills and
physical activity to promote physical wellbeing and to reduce risk of physical deterioration.
work flexibly and with the multidisciplinary
team, to plan, deliver and evaluate patient's progress
maintain clinical record keeping and use Trust
IT systems.
use 1:1 exercise intervention, group activity, and
support patients with accessing the community
support the Occupational Therapy Team with community
assessments.
Improve the provision of physical activity
through service development and quality assurance
educate health care professionals, physiotherapy
students, carers in physiotherapeutic management. This includes contribution to
CPD of the MDT
provide physiotherapy
assessment to the Older Adult Hospital at Home Service
