Wheelchair Therapist - Band 6 (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist)
Full time: 37.5 hours per week, flexible working will be considered.
We are seeking a highly motivated Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who is looking to further their clinical skills and gain expertise in wheelchairs and posture management.
There will be opportunities to improve the service and work within the wider multi-disciplinary network in health and social care.
Interview to be held on 30 April 2024.
Main duties of the job
- You will have experience of working with people of all ages and with a broad range of conditions.
- You will have knowledge and skills in assessing holistic needs, within your profession, and foundation skills in intervention planning, implimentation and evaluation. Prior experience of equipment, wheelchair and posture management is desirable.
- You will be responsible for triage for the team, managing your own caseload and supporting any junior members.
- You will conduct holistic assessment of mobilty and posture needs, conducting patient handling as needed.
- You will see clients in clinic, homes, care and residential homes, education settings and other appropriate environments.
- You will conduct handovers and set up wheelchair equipment to clients needs ensuring they and/ or carers are educated in the safe use of these. You will be required to handle, transport and adjust equipment using tools provided .
- You will be required to travel within and out of the locality, with wheelchairs, accesories and tools, so a drivers licence and car is preferrable for this role. We also provide vans for use by clinical staff in transporting larger equipment.
