Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative Infant Feeding Advisor to join our friendly, supportive 0-19 team in West London.

This is a new role contributing to the delivery of the national 0-5 years Healthy Child programme and breastfeeding support service across Hounslow, working closely with partners within a Family Hub including children's centres , maternity and social care, providing seamless care to the population of Hounslow.

We work with families in one of the most diverse boroughs in London to give children the best possible start in life by providing the most up-to-date evidence based support.

Main duties of the job

The Infant Feeding Advisor will work collaboratively with the Infant feeding Lead as part of the corporate health visiting team assisting with the delivery of infant feeding support for families in Hounslow and contribute to a comprehensive breastfeeding service which will include telephone support, home visiting and liaising with Children centres, family hubs and a linkage for referrals.

The work may be offered in a variety of community settings, which could include clinic and children's centres. The Infant Feeding Advisor will be flexible to work across the 3 Hounslow localities depending on service need. The post holder will also be expected to support the Infant feeding lead in preparing for the stage 3 Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation.

Supporting the delivery of practical skills reviews in key breast-feeding skills to relevant staff. Support with auditing and reporting of best practice. To assist with the delivery of training related to infant feeding

  • NVQ Level 3 Qualification (Child related) or equivalent
  • Educated to GSCE grade C or above in literacy and numeracy
  • Completed breastfeeding feeding training

Desirable

  • UNICEF Infant Feeding training

Experience

  • Experience of working with children and young people
