Dental Nurse Specialist

Part-Time (34 hours per week)
We are looking for a qualified Dental Nurse who is looking for an exciting and challenging post within a small and nurturing team.
The successful candidate will be able to expand their scope of practice into interesting and varied roles, including overseeing sutures, dressings, theatre assisting and sedation recovery.
The right person will need to work four days flexibly Monday - Friday but will be given full training, mentoring and support into their role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an active team member within the department. They will work closely with the other staff in the department to provide efficient and effective patient care, enhancing the overall success of treatments, on-going support and patient satisfaction.
They will provide high quality dental nursing skills in support of the complex and diverse requirements of the unit caseload across all specialities including Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and Maxillofacial.
In addition they will assist the Maxillofacial Consultants in theatre and assist the Oral Surgeon in theatre as the scrub nurse and first assistant.

- National Certificate of Dental Nursing/ NVQ 3 in Dental Nursing or equivalent experience
- Post registration experience in orthodontics
- Knowledge of infection control methods
Desirable
- Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing (QCF Level 4)
- Demonstrable specialist maxillofacial and orthodontic skills
- Experience in Oral Surgery
- Competencies in suture removals
Aptitudes and Communication Skills
