Job summary
Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) and Isle of Wight Trust (IWT) are committed to delivering safe, effective, and innovative digital healthcare. We are seeking a highly motivated registered professional to undertake the role of Clinical Safety Officer to lead on clinical risk management and ensure compliance with national safety standards, including DCB 0129 and DCB 0160.
This is a pivotal role that offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to embed a culture of safety and continuous improvement across digital health initiatives.
Main duties of the job
- Lead and coordinate clinical risk assessments for digital health systems and services.
- Ensure compliance with NHS Digital clinical safety standards (DCB 0129 and DCB 0160).
- Collaborate with clinical, digital, and operational stakeholders to implement robust safety strategies.
- Maintain comprehensive clinical safety documentation, including hazard logs, safety cases and risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide expert guidance on clinical risk management and patient safety.
- Champion a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.
